Yes! Saturday is the day when the
fleet of cars in south-west Delhi moves towards Vasant Kunj malls, be it the
Emporio or the Promenade or Ambience that stand joined with each other on the
wide Nelson Mandela road. Emporio stands class apart in its own grandeur, being
the best luxury shopping destination in the country where the riches shop and
pass by their free days crossing the mall lanes between those opulent boutiques
amid extravagant visual appeal and doing their favorite pass time, Shopping and
socializing. As I stepped in DLF
Promenade, the same day, the weekend that just passed by, I could sense the
excitement amongst the crowd there, by just experiencing the buzz around.
Passing by shop by shop, M.A.C, Mango, Steve Madden, flocking through the
stores in hunting for something, wish I could know what!!
The confusion that wanders in my mind
is that why all those stores ,be it Promod/Mango/ Zara or any other, especially
the international ones, have the same dresses, in neon and chiffon and nothing
else, for that matter. What about those, to whom this style didn’t appeal at
all, should they not shop this spring? And what about the most walked in
markets by Young Delhi, any guesses? Ya! Janpath, Sarojini or GK1, Mblock? Yeah!
Yeah! They too have the same ones, almost if not exact, similar but obviously
at quarter the rates of the tag ones.
Why should we buy the 4 times priced ones when everybody is wearing the
same out there, and is available at freaking low prices. The neon translucent
shirts in green/ orange/ coral/ mint/ maroon/ black and white with golden buttons,
rolled up sleeves, in peter pan collars and double breasted. All are wearing
the same, 13 year old newly turned teen or the 35 year old City woman. Why can’t
there be a distinction for that matter?
We all are pretty much able of
styling ourselves, Yes you are! Then don’t follow the herd! Follow your own
trend but with your own style and not blindly what your elder sis wears to
work. I am not against these brands. I
love them too!! But don’t go and shop the same pieces everywhere, be it Mango/
zara/ Forever21 etc. Have your say too!!!
